Lady O'Dee, Flint's Dust Commander, Blue ByU
Field Champion & Amateur Field Champion: J&M's Orange Blossom Special We got our first Brittany, Lady O'Dee, in 1970 from Gene Spires of Eureka Kansas. Just a pup at 4 months of age, Lady O'Dee was purchased for a hunting dog. We soon became interested in field trial competition as a hobby. Lady's littermate, Flint's Dust Commander, who won the 1971 American Brittany Club Futurity, was acquired later in his career and finished his field championship. Blue ByU was our last champion. He was a dog that could range for trials, cover the prairie for quail, and work pheasants for our customers "all in the same day." Most of our Brittanys' bloodlines can be traced back to these dogs combined with other champions and national champions in their pedigrees. 1991 National Amateur Champion, Sir Duke Mustacio, owned and trained by our good friend, Evert Davis Jr., soundly won this event at 10 years of age. Duke's parents were both whelped at Lone Pine. |

Although we enjoy competing, we have never lost sight of the important traits in our Brittanys. They must be bird dogs first. Natural hunting desire, instinct to point staunchly, and physical soundness are traits required by any hunter looking for a hunting companion. We strive to give honest opinions and demonstrations of each Brittany we offer for sale, trying to fit the hunter to the dog that hunts in the style the customer desires. |
